Going Green

I was able to go to Oregon on business for some training this past week. I took advantage and stayed with my parents - saving the company money for a hotel, rental car, and food. My dad, a family friend and I went hiking in the Columbia River Gorge on Saturday. When I left Phoenix it was 113. In Oregon it was between 70 and 80 for the high. Nice! It was also very green and we saw 5 different waterfalls on our 4 mile hike.
We took the Horsetail Creek Trail.
The first waterfall we came to - Upper Horsetail Falls. The trail went under the waterfall here.
So I lied...technically THIS was the first waterfall we came to. Horsetail Falls. But it was right off the road at the trail head, so that doesn't count.
The Gorge from an overlook after a steep section of trail with many switch backs. I was about a foot from at least a 200 ft drop off - pretty much straight down.
This is Upper Onenita Falls. I again risked my life and a very long fall to get this picture. Just beyond the flowers was a cliff.
Triple Falls. Our destination this particular day.
This is the creek above triple falls. We stopped here to have lunch before turning around.
I forget sometimes how green Oregon is. This was a fun hike. I recommend going to the gorge when you visit - especially if you like waterfalls.
