Sedona Trip: Part One

I was able to take a few days off during the past week so we could escape to see the red rock country of Sedona. The trip was a little last minute, but I think everything worked out. Thank you Hotwire for getting us a great deal on our hotel room. We tackled the 2 hr drive on Wednesday afternoon. Makayla did surprisingly well in the car.

Thursday morning we went to Red Rocks State Park and hiked around Oak Creek. We stayed in the shade most of the time. Ben and Melanie were nice enough to loan us their baby backpack so Makayla could come along. Jessica's very happy here because Sedona was about 15 degrees cooler than Phoenix.

After our little hike we drove up to the Chapel of the Holy Cross, a church built between two rocks. Also there, a nice overlook of the south part of Sedona. After this we headed a little further south to the Village of Oak Creek to check out the factory outlets.
Friday morning we headed up to do another hike on Airport Mesa. This is a rock and "vortex" spot near the trail head overlooking the city and area.

We had a great time up in Sedona, even if it was only for a few days. We will definitely go back at some point.
